DISTRICT ACTION PLAN

FACILITATE   CHURCH PLANTING LABORATORY

DESCRIPTION: A Church Planting Laboratory is a District sponsored on-the-job training program in Church Planting, using the S.O.S.  (Summer Of Service) mobilization campaign. It is  a program of acceleration: Churches will be planted by the participants during the OJT  followed by   a multiplication of the church planting efforts by the local churches in their local targets.

WHY A LABORATORY?

Membership mobilization is the life force of church planting. But church planting   cannot be learned by “theorizing”. It is learned by actually doing it.  Class room type sessions are never enough or appropriate type of training for church planters. We need to bring our members to the actual church planting environment – a church planting laboratory – where they will learn how to do it!
Babies learn to talk by talking, learn to walk by walking , Churches learn to plant churches by actually planting a church

SOS OFFERED  AS CHURCH PLANTING  LABORATORY

SOS as a church planting program was born in 1986 as a response   to the Great Commission. The Great Commission is a GOING commission, so the best way to do missions is to GO to the Harvest Field.

S.O.S.   is an acronym  for Summer of  Service. It is a challenge  for  Christians to dedicate their summer vacation to participate in winning the lost and planting a church in a target town or city.    “He who gathers crops in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.” (Prov.10:5)

It is a Church Planting Strategy
It is a Membership Mobilization.
It is a Ministry‑Oriented program.
It is a Training‑on‑the‑job concept.
It is Power Encounter Evangelism.
It is a Summer Camp with a PLUS!
It is a Church Planting Laboratory.
Because of our goal, every   member church of our movement is mandated to participate in the nationwide `Plant Another Church’ program. How can our churches comply? We offer SOS as a method to accelerate our efforts to reach the goal.   Local churches organize a Church Planting Team   of at least 5 people.  The teams gain experience in church planting by joining a month-long SOS church planting effort in a   place targeted by the district.  The teams go  back to their churches ready to plant churches in their   local target places.
